Have you ever been in a living room or bedroom that just felt… sterile? Like there’s no character or coziness?
Your home is meant to be cozy, and more importantly, a reflection of your personal taste and style! That’s where cozy maximalism comes in. Cozy maximalism is a decor style that emphasizes “more is more” when it comes to bringing in elements of your style and things that make you feel at home.
And trust me, by the end of this article, you’ll be itching to redecorate!
If you’re working with a tight space, maximalism is a pretty ideal decor style! You can squeeze a lot in, like in this cozy bedroom/office with so many fun plants and patterns.
One common theme you’ll notice in maximalist spaces: bookshelves! They can really completely elevate and change a space. Especially when they’re big and full of books, like these green shelves.
I am obsessed with that black and white checkerboard backsplash! What a fun and unique touch. You might not think maximalist decor is possible in a kitchen– but this kitchen proves that it is!
Is there a such thing as subtle maximalism? I think so! In this space, there’s many different patterns and colors in the mix. Yet overall, the space still looks subtle and serene.
I envy anyone who has walls like this! There is something about wood that is just inherently so cozy, but also so versatile for mixing with other decor styles!
Pink 😍 . Some say it’s the hardest color to decorate with. But when done well, it can just really make a room pop. I love this cozy maximalist fireplace– especially the flamingo!
Many cozy maximalist spaces are dark and moody, but that doesn’t have to be the case! This boho living room has many interesting textures which make it look super cozy.
Green is the star of the show in this maximalist living room. And it looks so beautiful paired with its complementary color, red! Many maximalist rooms stay away from a distinct color scheme, opting for many different colors, so this is a refreshing take!
Loving the midcentury touches in this living room, and the large scale art above the fireplace.
Hanging artwork is a must if you are going to create a cozy maximalist space! Try experimenting with different layouts and placements, rather than going for the most obvious option.
There is not an inch of wasted space in this maximalist seating area! This is truly the perfect decor style for lovers of sculpture and pottery.
Typically, I stay away from black in decor. But in this seating area, I think the black adds a lot to the cozy- moody vibes!
This is one of my favorite spaces on this list. It has a very cottage-like and organic feel to it. But, I couldn’t help but notice the kale casually displayed as a floral arrangement 😂
Green! Maximalist spaces can’t get enough of it. Another trick I see a lot, like in this living room, is to stack books all around the room in different spots.
Same thing goes for artwork! One thing that’s been really trendy lately is to display artwork propped up against the wall on the floor, like in this living room.
This is such an interesting bedroom to me, because it’s almost like half minimalism and half maximalism!
This gives me tumblr vibes, and I’m here for it! Love the (hopefully fake) candles and fairy lights everywhere.
Can we talk about wallpaper? Such an amazing way to add some extra oomf to your space! Even if you’ve got a lot of extra decor, don’t be afraid to mix and match!
The unexpected hero of this room? The rug! Rugs are such an important touch to make a space cozy– and also to introduce a fun and unexpected pattern!
Plants are a common theme you’ll see throughout these maximalist spaces. Sometimes, it’s really all you need!
If you have a huge book collection, why not use it as decor as well! Is there a such thing as too many books? 🙂
I am loving the combo of wood beams and chandeliers in this space. And let’s not ignore that gorgeous paint color!
When it comes to art style in a maximalist room, the sky’s the limit! Don’t be afraid of mixing different styles. It’s all about showing your personal taste.
How cozy is it to have pillows and blankets in a dining area like this? Reminds me of a high end restaurant.
I looove the dark color of the bookshelf and wall in this living room. Many people are afraid of dark– but there’s really nothing to be afraid of if the goal is to make a space super cozy!
One of my favorite things about maximalist spaces is that you can really see the personality of the decorator. I can imagine all the places they’ve traveled and things they’re inspired by just through their decor!
These blue vases and zebra rug are two things I would never expect to be in the same room, yet it somehow totally works!
I just love everything about this bedroom! The quilted comforter, the wallpaper on the ceiling, the bay window! Everything about it is so serene and relaxing.
Pink and green is one of the best color combos hands down! Works so well in this moody but glamorous space.
That wallpaper is just gorgeous! I think that the true hallmark to making a space cozy and maximalist, is to infuse your personal style in a way that is interesting and inviting.
Even if you’re going for. a more bright space, you can still incorporate some more vintage or antique elements!
These chunky knit blankets are incredible! Not only do they look cute, they’re also super cozy to cuddle up with.
Everything about this space is so unique! Particularly, I love these wooden hand chairs and how they’re paired with the zebra rug.
Never forget about curtains! They are the perfect way to make a bright room cozier.
Some wallpapers on Etsy have larger patterns that can stand out and almost look like a mural. That would be a great option to achieve something similar to this green and pink living room.
I am obsessed with everything about this– particular the adorable little end table!
One thing you rarely see in home decor is vintage painted portraits. I think that’s what makes this space so unique!
Imagine relaxing in this chair on a sunny day– basking in the sunlight surrounded by plants 😍
That’s all for cozy maximalist spaces! Remember, it’s all about picking up things you love along the way of life and displaying them throughout your home. ♥️
